Konstruktor: back and alive!

I've been very busy doing my full time job for last two years. Along with my job, I was slowly working on my project called KLDraw (and then Klotz) in my spare time.

Many things have changed. I renamed it Konstruktor (yeah, I know that was an awkward decision), refined UI and rewrote the rendering code from the scratch. Now I believe this one is almost feature complete and comparable to major LDraw-based CADs out there (MLCad, LeoCAD, Bricksmith, ...)

Konstruktor 0.9.0-beta1 is just released. The source code is here: http://konstruktor.influx.kr/konstruktor-0.9-beta1.tar.bz2 Still this is in beta stage, please report bugs as you find them.

This project is now hosted at GitHub. Feel free to participate and fork if you want to. I have project homepage (http://konstruktor.influx.kr) but nothing's there so far. I still suck at designing website, please mail me if you want to help.

Klotz - icon wanted!

Some of you might heard, KLDraw is now Klotz. The project is getting toward to the first beta release. However, it still doesn't have an icon. I couldn't do it myself because I have poor sense of graphics to make shiny Oxygen-esque one.

Therefore, icon wanted. There's no any complicated demands. Just it looks like an ordinary Oxygen icon and that's all okay.

Mail me if you made one (mastermind at planetmono dot org). If your submission is accepted, your name will be enlisted in the about dialog.

KLDraw WIP

It's been a long time since I'm back from Akademy 2008. It was a fantastic place and there were fantastic people too. I really enjoyed it. It's too bad that I couldn't talk with much people because of my terrible English.

Since I have not so enough time, I'm working on KDE projects in my spare time. Along with Galmuri, KLDraw KDE4 port is well ongoing. Precisely, it's a rewrite rather than port. (The old code was an awful mess!) Thanks to Qt4's MainWindow and MVC, the code is much cleaner and powerful now. While most of features are ported to the new version, now I'm adding some missing features which didn't exist in the last release.

This is what I resurrected yesterday: POV-Ray renderer. Please note that this is not working with POV-Ray 3.7 beta because they dropped the progressive stdout output feature at this moment.

The latest code is not in svn yet. I'll have it uploaded on svn after some annoying bugs get fixed.

python evaluator for krunner

i introduce a new krunner plugin that evaluates given Python expression, which could be useful for Python programmers.
in order to use this, expression must be provided with 'py=' prefix.
though krunner's autocompletion seems a bit unresponsive, i hope it would get better soon.

This screenshot is taken quite long ago, but I have to inform how the work is done so far.

By the way, QGLPixelBuffer under certain circumstances seems not working fine on my windows box. the buffer is filled with garbage instead of rendered image. Now I'm stuck because of it and I must figure out what's the problem.

KDE 4.0.0 is out. Congratulations, everyone! It's been a long time and the result is very impressive despite of slight unstableness. But this is another beginning. There is a long way ahead of us. So, let's keep going!

I've been very busy finishing my semester so far. Winter vacation has just started, and finally I got my own time for KDE. I'm happy to work on KDE again.

Nate On for Linux

Nate On is possibly the most popular instant messaging service in South Korea. According to Wikipedia, Total number of Nate On users overtook that of MSN Messenger in 2005 domestically. Nate On has around ten million users nowadays.

Once Nate On was constantly criticized for its lack of Linux and Mac support. SK Communications (service provider) originally developed Nate On client only for Windows. However, in response of non-windows users' continuous complaint, SK Comms recently released beta version of Nate On client for Mac OS X and Linux (not just for Linux, maybe it will work on other Unixes with X11).

The Mac version is nothing particular. It's just a Cocoa-based typical Mac application. but there are two wonderful things in the Linux version: 1. It's free software. (yes, it's GPL licensed), 2. Surprise, it's KDE based!

Recently I've got involved into this amazing project. Most of features are implemented, I'm going to focus on KDE4 porting. It will be really heavy job, you know. The other thing I'm planning to do is write a protocol plug-in for Kopete, if time permits.

I hope this can be a way to promote KDE awesomeness in Korea. KDE is not quite popular here.

I am Joon-Kyu Park (aka "segfault") from South Korea. Some of Akademy 2006 or 2007 participants would remember me.

I'm 20 years-old student programmer. My contribution to KDE is mainly a bit of code and sometimes Korean translations. I'm working on Galmuri (yet unannounced backup tool for KDE4). And I'm also developing KLDraw in my spare time. Although there's nothing special that I've done so far, I'd greatly appreciate if my contributions are helpful to the KDE community.
